Here we take a look at training for work at height, why you need it, and what benefits you’ll see from doing the training.
Why do you need work at height training?
Working at heights can be dangerous and, in many cases, unavoidable. Contrary to popular belief, working at heights is not limited to the construction industry. According to HS (G) 33 Government working at height regulation, anyone who works at a level off the ground is considered to be working at heights, whether it be on a ladder, mobile platform, or gangway. It is essential to be trained and equipped to understand how to work safely in such conditions. To reduce risks and provide greater peace of mind, we offer the necessary training to ensure your and your employee’s safety.
Working at height requires a specialised set of skills and detailed knowledge of safety protocols to prevent accidents from occurring. Due to the hazardous nature of working at height, special infrastructure, such as guardrails and harnesses, are necessary for safety.
Training for working safely at height covers these requirements and provides workers with an understanding of the legal framework put in place by government bodies as well as practical advice concerning how to safely perform construction tasks from elevated heights. Certification for working at height serves as evidence that employees have been thoroughly trained in safe work practices, ensuring a safe and secure working environment.
If workers are not adequately trained and their skills are not regularly refreshed, there is an increased risk of potentially life-threatening accidents. We take the necessary steps to assess each worker’s individual needs and provide them with the appropriate level of training. This ensures a much safer working environment, where risks are minimised and the building owner or operator can have peace of mind.
Ultimately, receiving proper work at height training is essential to ensuring that everyone involved in working at height is made aware of potential risks and understands how best to stay safe when faced with difficult situations during elevated worksite operations.
HS (G) 33 Health & Safety in Roof Work 1998 appendix 3.7 states “adequate information, instruction, training, and supervision should be given when a fall arrest system is used.” With this in mind, Eurosafe is the only company to offer MSA Latchways approved training in the use of fall protection equipment.
Who should attend?
Obviously, anyone who works at heights should attend our training on working at heights. Importantly, managers, supervisors, and anyone responsible for a team of employees who require an understanding of working at heights should also undertake the training. By gaining an understanding of the risks, legality, and benefits of proper practice around working at heights, teams can work more efficiently and safely, while also reducing the risk of accidents and injuries.
