The Importance of Training for Working at Height - Blog
Here we take a look at training for work at height, why you need it, and what benefits you’ll see from doing the training.
Why do you need work at height training?
Working at height is often unavoidable and not limited to construction. According to HS (G) 33, anyone working off the ground—on ladders, mobile platforms, or gangways—is considered to be working at height. Proper training is essential to minimise risks and ensure safety.
Working at height requires specialised skills and strict safety protocols. Guardrails, harnesses, and other protective measures are necessary to prevent accidents. Our training covers these essentials, providing workers with both legal knowledge and practical safety techniques for elevated tasks.
Certification in working at height proves that employees understand safe practices, creating a more secure work environment. Without regular training, workers face a higher risk of serious accidents. That’s why we assess individual training needs and provide the right level of instruction, reducing risks and giving building owners and operators peace of mind.
Proper training ensures workers recognise hazards and know how to stay safe in real-world situations. Our comprehensive courses equip employees with the skills and confidence to work safely at height, helping businesses stay compliant and protect their workforce.
HS (G) 33 Health & Safety in Roof Work (1998), appendix 3.7, states: “Employers must provide adequate information, instruction, training, and supervision when using a fall arrest system.” With this in mind, Eurosafe remains the only company offering MSA Latchways-approved training for fall protection equipment.
Who should attend?
Obviously, anyone who works at heights should attend our training on working at heights. Importantly, managers, supervisors, and anyone responsible for a team of employees who require an understanding of working at heights should also undertake the training. By gaining an understanding of the risks, legality, and benefits of proper practice around working at heights, teams can work more efficiently and safely, while also reducing the risk of accidents and injuries.
