Professional Background
Q. Can you tell us a bit about your background before joining Eurosafe?
I dedicated 20 years to Dorset & Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service, followed by a further eight years with South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue. Throughout my career, I gained extensive experience across a variety of operational and training roles, all centred around safety, risk management and emergency response.
Alongside my operational career, I also spent 10 years working part-time as a tutor at New College Swindon, delivering both classroom-based and online courses to adult learners. That experience helped me develop my teaching style and adapt my delivery to suit different learning preferences.
Q. What skills and experience do you bring to Eurosafe Training Academy?
My career in the fire and rescue service gave me a deep understanding of safety-critical environments, including leadership, incident command, technical rescue and public safety education.
I also built extensive experience in delivering training to both new recruits and experienced professionals. Combining that operational knowledge with my teaching background enables me to deliver practical, engaging and effective training that helps delegates develop skills they can immediately apply in the workplace.
Q. You’ve been with Eurosafe for over a year now – how has the experience been so far?
It’s been fantastic. Joining Eurosafe felt like a natural progression for me, and over the past year I’ve had the opportunity to work with clients across a wide range of industries.
Sharing knowledge, helping people stay safe and seeing delegates grow in confidence has been incredibly rewarding. The team here is passionate about delivering high-quality training, and being part of that culture makes every day enjoyable.
Role at Eurosafe
Q. What can delegates expect from your courses?
Delegates can expect practical, easy-to-follow training that’s built around real-world experience. I focus on making every session relevant to the challenges people face in their own workplaces, ensuring the learning is both engaging and immediately applicable.
Whether I’m delivering Working at Height, Confined Space Entry or other safety-critical courses, my goal is to give delegates the knowledge, practical skills and confidence they need to carry out their work safely and competently.
Q. What do you enjoy most about your role?
Helping people build their knowledge and confidence is definitely the most rewarding part of the job.
Seeing delegates leave a course with a clearer understanding of safe working practices and the confidence to apply what they’ve learned in their own roles is incredibly satisfying. Knowing that the training can make a genuine difference to someone’s safety at work is what motivates me.
Training is also very much a two-way process. Delegates bring a wealth of experience from different industries, and those conversations often provide valuable insights and alternative approaches that benefit everyone in the room—including me as an instructor.
Q. Finally, do you have any advice for those attending your courses?
Get involved and make the most of the opportunity. Don’t be afraid to ask questions or discuss how the training relates to your own role.
The courses are designed to be interactive, and sharing experiences often helps everyone learn. The more you participate, the more confident you’ll feel when it comes to putting your new knowledge and skills into practice back in the workplace.
