Ladder Association: Stepladder & Step Stool User & Inspection (LALSSC1)
This course is suitable for those people responsible for using and inspecting stepladders and step stools.
All courses will be delivered in English and delegates must be physically able to carry out the practical elements of the course.
Delegates can attend our Training Academy in Sheffield or the course can be delivered in a suitable classroom at your normal place of work (subject to a risk assessment).

Learning Outcomes
On successful completion of the course, delegates will have an understanding of:
- When it’s right to use a stepladder or step stool
- How to select and safely use stepladder and step stools
- The law/standards relating to stepladder and step stools
- The hazards in the use of stepladder and step stools
- Safe storage and handling of stepladder and step stools
- When it’s right to inspect a stepladder or step stool
- How to carry out a formal inspection, record faults and what to do if faults are found.
Important
Closed-toe shoes, with good grip on the sole are recommended – no backless or high heel shoes; no socks, tights or bare feet.
Course Assessment
- Multiple choice questions
- STEP assessment of a task
- Pre-use inspection, carrying and setting up of a Stepladder and Step Stool
- Completing a formal inspection.
